Create an inventory item

Add an inventory item before using it in stock control or orders. This guide is for staff with Inventory write access; the workspace must have the Inventory module enabled.

1)

Open Inventory, search the product name or SKU, and check that the item does not already exist.

2)

Select Add inventory. Enter a recognisable item name and SKU, then choose the appropriate category and available product options.

3)

Review pricing and tax settings carefully. Enter the cost and selling information needed for your workflow; these values can affect order totals and reporting.

4)

If the item will be purchased from a supplier, link the relevant supplier company in the available item settings. Check units so quantities are understood consistently.

5)

Complete the form and select Create. Open the saved item and review its Details, Pricing and Stock Control sections.

If an item is missing from a supplier order

Check that it is active, linked to the selected supplier and available in the current workspace. Creating the item does not by itself prove stock is on hand. Record or reconcile stock through your authorised stock-control process, and do not enter opening stock twice.
